Between the Dolomites and Kronplatz
A unique and varied worldInimitable natural scenery, a palette where stands out the blue colour of lakes and streams, embraced by the green of pastures and by the pale shades of rocks that turn ablaze at sunset… These are the Dolomites, a UNESCO world heritage site. Located at the gates of the Fanes plateau, the village of San Vigilio di Marebbe is a wonderful outpost for the exploration of the so-called Pale Mountains. Just a 5-minute walk away from Sorà Apartments and Dolomite Mountain Apartments in San Vigilio, there is the Visitor Centre of the Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park, where you can find lots of interesting information about the territory and get an answer to any question regarding the park. And with the project Dolomiti Ranger this charming rocky world also opens up to families with children.
But the key-peak of this area doesn’t belong to a dolomite ridge. Kronplatz, also called “Panettone” (due to its form that resembles the famous Italian Christmas cake), is completely different, but not less attractive. The view from its 2275 m a.s.l. sweeps from the peaks of the Dolomites to the Alpine Ridge on the border with Austria. Right on top you can find the characteristic Messner Mountain Museum Corones, dedicated to traditional alpinism.
